While her father is away serving in the military, Sadie battles to preserve his place on the home front when her mother takes an interest in the newest resident at the Shady Plains Trailer Park.

In 1940s outport Newfoundland, young Sadie struggles to cope with the tragic death of both her parents.

Filmed at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast for BBC's Lights Up season of theatrical films, David Ireland's play concerns Sadie, a sharp tongued Belfast cleaner, who must confront painful episodes from her turbulent life.

Sadie's dad is a rock and roll legend, and her mom a deceased rock photographer. Sadie longs to be a part of the rock and roll circus, so while her dad is on tour, she sneaks into bars to photograph bands. Watch what happens as Sadie learns the true meaning of sex, drugs, and rock and roll.
